As the father of the City of Alaminos, I proudly lead my citymates in welcoming you to our first fiesta as a component city of the Province of Pangasinan.

Alaminos' cityhood had been overwhelmingly approved by our people in a plebiscite held on March 28, 2001.  This achievement coupled with the Almighty God's unceasing blessings to us for the year just past, makes it doubly meaningful to celebrate the Feast Day of our patron-Saint Joseph, The Royal Carpenter.

Cityhood ushered in for Alaminos unprecedented growth and development. Local, national and multi-national business establishments sprouted everywhere in the vicinity.  Despite economic troubles besetting the country and the world-at-large, Alaminos has stood firm and remained the commercial center in Western Pangasinan, attracting Anda, Bolinao, Agno, Bani, Mabini, Burgos, Infanta, Sual, Labrador and Bugallon consumers.

However, we are not going to halt our efforts just because of our past accomplishments.  We will take it a step further in order to attain for our beloved city even greater heights this new millennium.

I therefore urge my good citymates to continue in their involvement, cooperation and support to our various worthwhile undertakings-infrastructure projects, farm-to-market roads, agricultural development, among others.  Let us be united in bringing about a decent and comfortable life for everyone.

In this year 's fiesta, let us extend to another more meaningful level our camaraderie - let us unite ourselves for development purposes.  And, let us not forget to congratulate ourselves for our achievements.

To my citymates - I SALUTE YOU!

To our guests, visitors and friends - WELCOME!  May your celebration with us be most unforgettable

It is with great pleasure that I greet all our visitors, our guests and our constituents on the occasion of the annual traditional celebration of the fiesta in honor of Patron St. Joseph.

In occasions like this, we especially have to look upon the Good Lord and give Him praise and glory for all the blessings and for continued guidance in years to come.

We experienced global crisis effected by international terrorists and likewise disastrous calamities that occurred in the past like the typhoons and floods although our city was spared of significant damages.  We are again apprehensive of the tantamount effect of the present war between the U. S and Afghanistan.  But despite the abnormal economic conditions like the increase in the prices of prime con1illodities, we are able to survive. Thanks to the Filipino flexibility and the Alaminians’ resourcefulness.

The theme of this year's celebration “ALAMINOS: A CITY RISING IN THE WEST, GEARING TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT” partakes the plea of all of us ALAMINIANS to work hand in hand in order to ably sustain a fast paced development and to attain the envisioned progress for the city in the near future.  This will also remind our people not to depend only on our government in the solution of our various economic, social and political problems.

I hope and pray for continued blessings of our Almighty Lord in our lives, daily undertakings, in our respective homes and in all fields of endeavor and which will eventually mould this historical, tourism city in the west into a progressive commercial capital of Western Pangasinan-the New City of Alaminos.  Lastly, in behalf of Sangguniang Panlungsod, my family and I wish you merriments in the celebration of the festivity.

Miss Alaminos 2001

Good Evening citizens of Alaminos and welcome to this momentous occasion.  The opportunity has finally come for me to share with you the precious gift of friendship and cultural traditions through speech, and through this gathering we hold tonight amongs one another as Filipinos, and as the united people of Alaminos.

Parting from my title as Miss Alaminos 2001 will not be an easy task for me.  By representing this beloved city, I also represent the city's unity. I feel I have done my best to satisfy that sense of unity through the fantastic relationships I have gained with the people.  By residing here in Alaminos for 7 months side by side amongst the native townspeope I have learned the traditions and accepted the values of what it means to be a Filipino.

Filipinos here in the Philippines are not only good people, they are friendly and have cheerful attitudes.  These same attitudes I now realize are similar to those in the United States.  I've always had a sense of Filipino pride, and having this little experience of being Filipino in the native country has enabled me to renew that pride as a Filipino here and from America.  Respectfully what better placej is there to learn these traditions then through the city of Alaminos?

Tonight I proudly pass on my title and crown to the future Miss Alaminos I hope and expect that she too will also continue the tradition of Filipino Unity.  I am grateful to those who encouraged me and supported me through the Search for Miss Alaminos 2001.  I am very grateful to my loving family who aided me and provided me with the resources which were not only material, but also love.

I thank God for giving me strength and for this wonderful opportunity.  Thank you all for supporting me as Miss Alaminos 2001!

MISS JENNY GUNDAYAO RABAGO
