During the construction of the Sual Power Plant, Engineer Dylan
Lamb and several of his co-workers were housed at St. Marie
Resort, Bued, Alaminos, because the Power Plant Village was full.
This gave him the chance of getting to know the local folks. The
resort is very close to Alaminos National High School and Dylan
made friends with some of the teachers.
After the completion of the power plant, Dylan has come back to
Alaminos several times. The first time, in 1999, he coached the
football team at the high school (pic. 1). The next visit, one year
later, he was joined by Mr. Evan Alvia, Secretary General of the
Philippine Hockey Association, hoping to introduce hockey to the
high school students. They were able to organized Coaching Clinics
at the Don Leopoldo Auditorium (pic. 2).
Dylans club
in England has done very well this season. The 1st Team is League
Champions and the 2nd team has won promotion to the next division
as 3rd place. The Academy (Under 13 years) has come 3rd in a league
of 24 teams from the whole of Yorkshire County.
During his visits
in Alaminos, Dylan was introduced to Mayor Fontelera, who he thinks
is a fantastic person and wishes him well.
Dylan plans to
visit Alaminos next year and hopes to hold more workshops when he
comes.

Subject: Celebration
Normanby Park Hockey is known to some of the older students at
ANHS and we are proud to announce that we have had a very succesfull
season playing hockey. We play in the Yorkshire League. Yorkshire
is a province and covers such City's and Towns as Sheffield, Rotherham,
Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Scunthorpe and Scarborough. All in the
North of England. There are 12 Divisions in this league. Normanby
Park are 'Champions' of Division 3 this year and therefor
play in Division 2 next Season. Also Normanby Park's 2nd XI came
3rd in Division 6 and therefor play in Division 5 next season.
This remarkable season when the 1st XI lost only 2 games all year,
follows the success of last season 2000/2001 When the 1st XI won
the Tadcaster 6 a side Tournament and came 3rd in their division
while the 2nd XI came 'Runners Up' in the 2nd XI cup. Last year
also our Youth Academy team came second in the Province Cup.
Why am I telling you this? Well I am the Clubs Manager and Coach
and as you know I feel that I have friends in Alaminos City and
I would like them to know what we have achieved. Also all our acheivments
have be made while wearing shirts manufactured in Alaminos City
by 'Sisons'
near the Auditorium. I have attached photographs as jpegs and
hope you can put this little story in your Celebration spot on the
website.
Perhaps you would feel that a section for sporting achievements
by the schools and other sportsmen in Alaminos would be interesting.
I for one would love to hear how the ANHS has done with the girls
basketball as I was a sponsor for them a couple of years ago.
Kindest Regards
Dylan John Lamb.
