ALAMINOS City - Agbiag dagiti annak iti away (Long live the true
sons of far-off barangays) chorused by the twenty-four barangay
leaders who were behind the ascension to presidency of Victoria
Brgy. Captain Mario P. Rabadon, moments after the successful citywide
Liga ng mga Barangay election held recently here.
Rock solid and unified from the start of campaign period until
the judgment day, Rabadon and his die-hard allies made history when
they sweep all the eleven positions, from the president down to
the eight members of the board of directors, for the City Liga ng
mga Barangay Chapter.
"It was indeed a resounding victory for us considering
the tremendous pressures, juicy proposals and outside forces that
are out to dismantle our core group," Rabadon said in an
interview with this paper last week.
"We never thought that the outcome would be like this.
I'm just very thankful to my partymates for their trust and confidence
in me and the support and prayers of my family and friends."
Rabadon, a former Kabataang Barangay Chairman and a three-term
chieftain of a coastal barangay in this city since 1989, will now
sit as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
And his baptism of fire as city legislators took place last Wednesday,
wherein his colleagues of the said august body led by Vice Mayor
Teofilo G. Humilde, Jr., gladly welcomed him.
Rabadon admitted that the Liga presidency is far from his plans
since he only intend to serve best his beloved barangaymates for
his last term as their leader.
But in a sudden twist of event and due to the constant prodding
of his colleagues, he finally thrown his hat in the city political
arena and grab the golden opportunity to serve more his constituents
and the city government.
He cited that it is his utmost desire to maintain the camaraderie,
unity and harmonious working relationship of its member in the league,
this to ensure that all of their laudable programs and projects
will truly benefit the barangay folks.
"Our battlecry in the Liga is for us to work as one and
change our system of governance to bring about genuine and sustainable
development for the 39 barangays parallel to the noble vision of
the Fontelera - Humilde administration for our city," the
alderman said.

Rabadon said he plans to propose several resolutions or measures
that would endeavor to improve the standard of living in the countryside.
And as one of his priority initiatives, the league chairman will
focus, on addressing the current plight and pressing problems of
the indigent families in this city.
He also stressed that he will certainly act as the real voice of
the Liga and the barangay people in the city council and playa vital
role in helping the city government implement its major programs
and projects for the city.
For the Liga, Rabadon further bared his plans to acquire or purchase
a van to be used in the important itineraries of the Liga members,
particularly on following-up request for barangay assistance from
the provincial officials in Lingayen town.
He added that he and the rest of Liga wanted to look for an alternative
ABC office where every member could stay while they are in the city
and probably to conduct meetings since the old ABC Building is currently
occupied by several government agencies and private entitles.
"We have a lot of work to do but we now have the numbers
in the Liga and I'm optimistic this could spell a big difference
as far in the delivery of basic services to our constituents."
he said.
"My colleagues are longing for reforms in the Liga and
our barangaymates are looking for development and progress in their
respective communities, we hope they continue to trust and help
me in realizing all our important missions and objectives for our
organization and the city as a whole."
Rabadon and the newly elected officers of the Liga took their oath
of office last Tuesday at the city hall administered by no less
than Mayor Eduardo F. Fontelera
The dynamic chief executive challenge the Liga president to kick-start
the needed reforms in the association and array of programs and
projects that are to be implemented for the betterment of the barangays.
Other elected officers of the league are Jimmy Sarmiento of brgy.
