Celeste introduce farm mechanization, distributed hybrid rice seeds

ALAMINOS CITY - In an aim to perk-up rice production and introduce farm mechanization in the first district, Congressman Arthur F. Celeste recently turned-over his latest contribution to the agriculture sector.

Celeste distributed 500 bags of hybrid rice seeds and 11 PJ Reaper Rotator to the local heads and agriculturists of nine towns and city in the district at the NFA warehouse in this city.

This was not the first time the vibrant congressman has provided rice subsidy to his districtmates, particularly to the farmers and victims of recent typhoons, for he is determined to sustain this initiative parallel to the current administration thrust which is agricultural modernization.

Among the local chief executives who personally received the rice seeds subsidy and farm equipment from Cong. Celeste were Mayor Eduardo F. Fontelera of the host city, Mabini Mayor Alimar Briana, Lady Mayor Letecia Rosete of Agno and Dr. Melchor Mallare, 3rd term Mayor of Infanta town.

Other towns were represented by their local agriculturist and municipal councilors, Along with rice subsidy, the Mayors present, they thanked Cong. Celeste for his laudable gift to the farmers in their respective municipalities.

Upon receiving the 50 bags of hybrid rice seeds and one palay reaper, the mayors and town agriculturists sign a simple acknowledgement receipt prepared by the Congressional District Staff stating the provisions regarding use of said machine and the seeds subsidy.

Under this terms and conditions, farmer-beneficiaries of the hybrid rice must have to pay P 500 per bag.

But the said payments, Which will soon be collected will serve as trust funds for the city or town Agriculture Office to be used for technical assistance needed by the farmer-beneficiaries and other related projects in the future.

In the case of the PJ Reaper Rotator, town heads were adviced to award the said farm equipment to registered farmers association or cooperatives in a form of grant.

The city and municipal agriculture officers are also directed to submit to the office of Cong. Celeste the list of farmer-beneficiaries of the rice subsidy. They were also urged to conduct training-seminars and other important technical assistance needed by the farming communities in the district.
