Mayor Dong, pouring concern on the farmers and fisherfolks


ALAMINOS CITY – Indeed, May 12 marked another first in the 4th city’s history as it embarked on a laudable initiative for the agricultural sector here.

Action City Mayor Eduardo “Dong” Fontelera led the jubilang cityfolks, visitors and city council during the ribbon cutting ceremony to formally open the affair of the “1st City Farmers and Fisherfolks Festival 2003”.

Fontelera on his welcome remarks hailed different sectors for the cooperation and coordination they have contributed to possibly initiate an undertaking in zooming out the agricultural sector of the city.

He disclosed that since about 60-70% of the city population are engaged in agriculture, thus, is about time to improve and boost the productivity of the farmers and the fisherfolks.

Mayor Dong in his advocacy of a clean and green Alaminos, urged the cityfolks indulging to environmental conservation, protection and reforestation in order to sustain and maintain the bounty of the seas and the land resources in the community.


Guest Speaker, Dr. Reinerio Belarmino and Dir. Nestor Domenden; DA Regional Director and BFAR Regional Director, respectively, both commended the city officials for introducing such festivity. They both expressed optimism that the said celebration could serve as an epitome to other municipalities.

Meanwhile, giving Mayor Dong support were soe SP members including Mario J. Montemayor, Myrna Aquino and Orlando Go, City Agriculturist, Ernesto De Leon, City Veterinarian Ronald Abarra, employees of the LGU, barangay officials and barangay folks.

Comprising the most mammothe of crowd were different agricultural sectors namely Crops & HVCC, Fishery Sector, Women’s and Youth Sector, Livestock Sector Cooperatives. Each sector has their own floats presenting different agricultural products in search for Best Pinaka Crops.

Observers said that the city administration indeed never stop at nothing exhausting all ways and means to be on look-out on the needs and the welfares of the people.

Slaugther House - Pinaka (Best) livestock competition, Rodeo Games: wood-chopping, tug-of-war, catch-a-pig contests.

City Auditorium - Pinaka (Best) crops & booth compitition, cooking, eating, poster haking, dance, & singing contests
