Barangay Amangbangan is an agricultural community and is one of
the vegetable bowl of the municipality. It is 8.50 kilometers away
west of the Poblacion with a land area of 521.2 hectares and a population
if 1,038. It is situated along the Landoc-Tawintwin-Amangbangan-Sta.
Maria roadline. Its immediate neighbors in the west are barangay
Tawintawin, San Vicente (Bani), and Sta. Maria (Alaminos) and on
the east by barangay Landoc.
Amangbangan has the following amenities: elementary school, covered
court auditorium and at the same time basketball court, a chapel
barangay health center, day care center and BLISS/housing(Bagong
Lipunan Site Service) project, a joint undertaking of the Provincial
Government of Pangasinan and the municipal government of Alaminos.
Farming is the principal livelihood of the resident. Almost 80%
of the total land area is devoted to farming and other agricultural
activities and the rest are for residential and other uses. Some
residents are also engage in bamboo craft industry, like basket
making, siopao making, hammock and bamboo seat making. It is accessible
to all kinds of land transportation. Residents of the area draw
their water partly from a pumping station operated by Alaminos Water
Works and the rest for deep wells/shallow tube wells (Jetmatic pumps).
Its 100% energized by PANELCO 1.
The development proposals are:
Concreting/asphalting of roadline from Landoc to Amangbangan.
Construction/improvement of all roads linking Amangbangan to other
barangay (catchment area).
Alaminos Water District to extend its service to all households
in the barangays.
To promote agro-industrial business in the barangay.
Improvement of institutional facilities.
Construction of more small farm reservoir.
Maintenance of its existing irrigation dams.
Conduct feasibility study on other industries may be established
in Amangbangan.
