Presently the urban core of
the city, Poblacion is the seat of government, the commercial business
district, as well as the center of recreational activities/facilities.
These various functional roles
are made possible by the presence of different facilities. It is
where the City Hall building, public market area, public plaza,
auditorium, Alaminos National High School, Alaminos Central School,
4 colleges, several churchs of different religious sector, 11 banking
institutions, 3 vocational schools. It is the residence of about
13.6% of the towns population.
Poblacion is the most developed
of all 39 barangays. It is completely energized plus the fact that
the households served by a centralized water work system. It has
a complete road network system, being traversed by the national
road leading to the major urban centers. As such, it is at the cross-roads
of all transportation routes going to the southwest, Olongapo City,
to southeast, Manila and to the east, Dagupan and Baguio City.
As such, Poblacion will remain
to be the Central Business District with residential and institutional
uses, with barangays Pogo, San Jose, Magsaysay and Bued as its immediate
catchment areas. However, it influence covers the whole city.
The proposed development strategies
are:
Expansion of commercial and
residential areas.
Maintenance of the existing
road system and institutional facilities.
Provision of facilities supportive
to commerce like parking space for vehicles.
Eliminate flooding in the eastern
and southern portion of Poblacion.
