INDUSTRY

EXISTING INDUSTRIES

A survey shows that there are 88 industries existing/operating in the city of various categories, as shown in the existing Industry Table, occupying a total area of approximately 127.9412 hectares including the salt making which occupy 98% or 124.8 hectares of the total industry areas.

Products of these industries are locally sold except salt and rice that are exported to different towns and cities in Metro Manila and as far as the Bicol provinces and Cagayan Valley.

These industries especially the rice mill operation and salt making industry generate employment in the city, although seasonal in nature. Welding/ironwork shops are concentrated in the urban area as some integrated or from part of a jeep body/tricycle body building shop.

OTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES

On May 22, 1998 the Office of the President, under Presidential Proclamation No. 1226 created and designated certain Lands of the pursuant to Republic Act No. 7116.

Land Transportation is abundant along this area. Power, water and communication facilities are also available/god enough to meet the needs of any industry that may thereat from the existing ones.

In the city, there are eleven (11) banking institutions which could answer the financial requirements of the establishments in the are and to mention a few of them are the Philippine national Bank. Philippine Commercial & Industrial Bank, Land Bank Of the Philippines and other financial institutions.

A five (5) hectare agricultural land in Tangcaran has been donated by Celerino V. Cornelio, Jr. (Cornelio Valdez Foundation) and has been designated by the city government as a demonstration farm.

The City of Alaminos is not yet fully industrialized. Existing and operating industries presently are considered as light industries, non-pollutive and non-hazardous. Based on the standard are for light industry (1) which 0.80 hectare per 100 population and considering that the present are being occupied by these industries is only 5.465 hectare, following the computation in determining the industrial land intensity for light industries given below will show that the present industrial land intensity is .00078 lower than the current standard of 0.80 hectare per 1000 population.
