| The past series of typhoons begining
with Typhoon "Gloria" flooded the low laying areas
of Alaminos. Crops were submerged for as long as seven days
and destroyed the newly planted seedlings. |
The fishery sector was also affected
by flooding waters. The City of Alaminos quickly reported this
damages to the Department of Agriculture, through Secretary
Leonardo Q. Montemayor, promptly responded with Rehab materials. |

The evening before:

| Tables were cleared from
the City Hall Lobby to make room for the relief goods. A ten-wheeler
truck delievered sacks which the crew hauled until 9:45 p.m. |

| On July 20, 2002, the city prepared
for the arrival of DA Secretary Montemayor. Alaminians began
assembling many hours before the arrival of the Secretary despite
the slight drizzle. |
In behalf of the City of Alaminos,
Kagawad Mar Montemayor welcomed the Secretary and his staff.
This welcome was also extended by the hundreds of city folks
who gathered to listen to the Secretary. |

| Secretary Montemayor said this relief is just
the first and hopefully more will come in the next months. Following
the Secretary's speech an open forum was opened for questions
from the audience. Questions focused on flooding, the irrigation
problems and damning of the local waterways. |
After the question were sufficiently answered,
the Secretary presented 150 sacks of certified seeds, vegetable
seed, 20 piglets, fishery nets, material and biotics. A total
of P500,000.00 of projects and product
was distributed on that day. |

| Vice Mayor Teofilo Humilde accepted the relief
materials in behalf of the City and the relief recipients and
gave thanks in his closing speech. |
Finally, the Secretary went out to meet members
of the audience to and to continue one-to-one discussions on
their requests and problems. |
