United High Schools Alumni Association of Alaminos Pangasinan World Wide

Earlier last month Lynn Cabal, President of the United High Schools Alumni Association of Alaminos Pangasinan World Wide (UHSAAPWW), emailed Mayor Fontelera through the mailman:

"On July 7, 2002, we sent 14 Balik Bayan boxes thru ATLAS. Four boxes contain sport equipments. We have deflated all volleyballs, & basketballs please inflated them as soon as they arrive to avoid damages. Air pumps are included. We have sent Tennis balls and Tennis rackets for young & adults. A complete set of softball equipment is also included."

"Two boxes include a monitor and CPU with accessories. Eight boxes are full of books & magazines. You will find these books exciting because they range from

Pre-School/Kinder garden activity books thru High School. Should you decide to give, or indorse these books to someone other that the Library, please inform me right away. I have told my donor that their books will beuse in our Library."

Lynn Cabal also emailed, "We are currently in the process of purchasing our second project (Sport Equipments) to help Alaminos. We also have procured more books for the Library. We are hoping that these books will be shared thru our barrios or Barangays through the discretion of the Alaminos City Librarian."

On August 1, 2002, 11 of the 14 Balikbayan boxes arrived and was received by City Librarian Zenaida Romero. She is still awaiting the arrival of the last 3 boxes.

August 5, 2002 - The Official opening of the UHSAAPWW Donation was conducted by Antero Magno, President of UHSAAPWW-Alaminos Chapter assisted by Poblacion Treasurer, Porfirio delos Reyes.

Also present were the City Librarian, Mayor Fontelera, Vice Mayor Humilde, other city officials, and library goers. The first box contain basketballs, vollyballs and assorted sports equipment.

Someone from the crowd commented, "It like Xmas in August."

The next boxes contained various magazines and books. After an initial inventory, Chapter President Magno turned over the donation to the city officials, who in turn, turned over the donation to the City Librarian and her staff.

Finally, the city officials gave thanks to all UHSAAPWW members through their Alaminos Chapter President.

Now, the problem is where to put the donated material. The library is so small there is not enough room to accomodate the new arrivals.

The donation was completed with the arrival of the three large balikbayan boxes. They contained more magazines, computer and sports equipments.

These included a computer monitor, modem, speaker, & other peripherials, baseball & tennis gear, more basketballs and finally the hand pump to inflate them with!!!

MANY THANKS!
